Bald Eagles of
the
Merrimack
Raptors
I am so fortunate to live near the mighty Merrimack River in Massachusetts. When winter arrives in the Merrimack Valley the river becomes a hotbed of activity as Bald Eagles congregate near the open water in search of the abundant fish and even the occasional duck. This is truly a nature success story. Bald Eagles had disappeared from Massachusetts in 1905, but thanks to conservation efforts and the Clean Water Act of 1972 their numbers continue to rebound.
